Rose Finlay Urges For “Inclusive Solutions For All”
Clarington-based Inclusive Solutions by Rose Finlay was born five years ago from Rose’s experience as a quadriplegic entrepreneur, after sustaining a spinal cord injury at 17. She spent 14 years navigating life, travelling, and working on her business with a disability. By experiencing barriers first-hand, she was able to better understand what the disabled community really needed and had the knowledge to help create opportunities so that more people can enjoy services and events.
Rose finds many business owners don’t understand how small changes can make their target audience more inclusive. She helps these businesses by finding profitable ways to be more accessible. She does this by creating allied partnerships to help dismantle ableism using a collaborative learning approach. Through her work, equal access to opportunity for disabled communities is ultimately increased.
Rose has found the pandemic helped to shed light on ableism and has given people time to understand and be more mindful. She has been working with other friends in business to develop strategies that create more inclusion, target a bigger audience, and in turn, generate more profit.
Inclusive Solutions offers consulting services for brand inclusion, lunch n’ learn opportunities for larger corporate partners, making your (online) events fully accessible, and a comprehensive inclusivity analysis that any business can take advantage of.
Rose signed up for the ShopHERE powered by Google Program to build an online store for Inclusive Solutions. She no longer has to juggle different payment platforms and has a landing page to handle bookings for her services.
“It’s given me peace of mind and given me back some of my time.”
The ShopHERE program simplified the process of setting up a website and helped Rose navigate any parts that were overwhelming or confusing. Her eCommerce Coordinator was there to walk her through the process and answer any questions. Rose was also thankful for the links to grants and marketing assistance provided in the program.
In addition to her consulting, Rose has also written three books on women’s empowerment that she is able to sell and ship easily from her online store. These books tackle subjects like finding the courage to speak your truth, accepting yourself, resilience, and taking empowered action as a woman. She collects her own stories along with the stories of other women to inspire and invoke feelings of community and hope.
“All we have to do is learn that women are not competition, but rather, we are allies.”
You can book a service or buy one of Rose’s books on her website rosefinlay.ca
