Digital Main Street, in partnership with <\/span>the <\/span>Downtown Whitby BIA<\/span><\/a>, is pleased to announce that <\/span>GroundLevel<\/span> Insights<\/span> has been <\/span>selected to pilot <\/span>its<\/span> consumer data and COVID-19 compliance solutions in Whitby<\/span>,<\/span> as part of the Digital Main Street Lab program.<\/span> Funding for this pilot is made available through the <\/span>Digital Main Street Future Proof program<\/span><\/a>, with support in part from the <\/span>Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (<\/span>FedDev<\/span> Ontario)<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GroundLevel<\/span> Insights offers main street businesses invaluable data on consumer habits including dwell times and information on <\/span>the places<\/span> customers visit before and after individual businesses. In the wake of COVID-19, the platform has expanded to include social distancing and mask compliance technology. A select number of main street small businesses in the Downtown Whitby BIA will have full access to this platform for 90 days to aid in their recovery during Durham region\u2019s reopening.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government of Canada is pleased to support the Digital Main Street platform and see innovative technology pilot studies, like this one with <\/span>GroundLevel<\/span> Insights<\/span>,<\/span> providing key consumer insights to<\/span> main street businesses,\u201d says the Honourable <\/span>M\u00e9lanie<\/span> Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for <\/span>FedDev<\/span> Ontario. \u201cWe are proud to work with Digital Main Street partners including the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA), <\/span>Communitech<\/span>, Invest Ottawa and the Regional Innovation Centres to help our innovation ecosystem grow stronger.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Digital Main Street Lab seeks to pilot projects that help main street businesses explore innovative and exciting ways to interact with their customers. <\/span>As main street restrictions continue to evolve, it is more important than ever for small businesses to understand their customers, ensuring the best possible experience every time they visit. Understanding habits like where a customer goes next can create opportunities for businesses to cross<\/span>–<\/span>promote. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Downtown Whitby BIA is excited to partner with Digital Main Street and <\/span>GroundLevel<\/span> Insights to bring this invaluable resource to our members. This tool allows business owners to gain insight on their customers and leverage that data to elevate their businesses<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d said Executive Director, <\/span>Karey<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Anne<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Large. \u201cMain Street businesses are the lifeblood of every great town. Providing our businesses with resources to further their success not only enhances our downtown, but also allows us to meet the core mandate of the BIA.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Included in this program, <\/span>GroundLevel<\/span> Insights also provides <\/span>CANATRACE\u2122<\/span><\/a> for free to restaurants,<\/span> bars<\/span>, <\/span>retailers, hotels and many other establishments across Canada. CANATRACE\u2122 is a fast, secure, bilingual solution used to collect contact and health screening information per <\/span>p<\/span>rovincial guidelines. Visitors <\/span>et<\/span> employees scan a QR code, which redirects them to a <\/span>unique company <\/span>branded<\/span> page, <\/span>with <\/span>no app required. The platform is updated as regulations change to support the business<\/span>es\u2019<\/span> evolving needs. All data is securely stored for 30-days and provided directly to public health authorities on request. The CANATRACE\u2122 system is already in place for thousands of businesses across the country today.\u00a0 Others can start using <\/span>CANATRACE\u2122 for free by registering at <\/span>www.canatrace.com<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Digital Main Street is a program that helps main street businesses achieve digital transformation. The program is built around an online learning platform, structured training programs, and our Digital Service Squad, a team of street-level team members who help main street businesses grow and manage their operations through technology.\u202f<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Digital Main Street was created by the Toronto Association o<\/span>f<\/span> Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) with direct support from the City of Toronto. D<\/span>igital <\/span>M<\/span>ain <\/span>S<\/span>treet<\/span> is also supported by a group of strategic business partners, including Google, Mastercard, Shopify, Microsoft, Facebook, Intuit QuickBooks, Square and Yellow Pages. A <\/span>$42.5<\/span>-million<\/span> investment from\u202f<\/span>FedDev<\/span>\u202fOntario<\/span><\/a> and an additional $7.45<\/span>\u202f<\/span>million from the Government of Ontario brought together the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas,<\/span> Communitech<\/span>,<\/span> Invest Ottawa, and the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association to expand the Digital Main Street <\/span>p<\/span>latform in order to support more businesses to go digital as a response to the impacts of COVID-19.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
