For this reason, successful businesses spend time analyzing their web traffic stats, sources and page performance, among many other types of data that can help clarify what your customers need and want.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"block\" data-alignment=\"align-left\" data-font-size=\"normal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"item-22900738\" class=\"px-post-text sc-iBmynh hZKzUU\">\n<p data-type=\"block\" data-alignment=\"align-left\" data-font-size=\"normal\"><b>Vanity metrics and other common analytics mistakes<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"item-22900739\" class=\"px-post-text sc-iBmynh hZKzUU\">\n<p data-type=\"block\" data-alignment=\"align-left\" data-font-size=\"normal\">Having more Twitter followers or Facebook likes is not your biggest determinant of online success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"item-22900740\" class=\"px-post-text sc-iBmynh hZKzUU\">\n<p data-type=\"block\" data-alignment=\"align-left\" data-font-size=\"normal\">\u201cLike <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2011\/09\/24\/founder-stories-eric-ries-vanity-metrics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eric Ries<\/a> said in <a href=\"http:\/\/theleanstartup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>The Lean Startup<\/i><\/a>, many entrepreneurs focus on vanity metrics,\u201d says Swartz. \u201cThose numbers might inflate your ego, but they\u2019re likely not telling you much about how your business is actually doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"item-22900741\" class=\"px-post-text sc-iBmynh hZKzUU\">\n<p data-type=\"block\" data-alignment=\"align-left\" data-font-size=\"normal\">Instead of focusing on your growing follower ratio and other numbers that make your business look good, make sure the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semrush.com\/blog\/9-metrics-you-should-care-about-more-than-rankings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">metrics<\/a> you\u2019re following align with your business goals.
