\u00a0There\u2019s no question that online is having an impact on how we design offline. Beyond marketing practices, Instagram is reshaping the $10B business of interior design \u2013 how small businesses are styling and utilizing their spaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a time where some say that digital is killing traditional retail, some small businesses are choosing to embrace digital and all of the benefits that come with that.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Social media has democratized marketing in a way \u2013 there are so many tools and resources at your fingertips \u2013 many of which are low cost or even free. Budgets\u00a0can stretch much further with a little\u00a0bit of research and creativity.<\/p>\n

People are looking for unique experiences. The ‘Right Now Crowd' is drawn to participatory moments and big conversations on twitter. They want to be able to document their narratives on social media, but also just crave things that are centered around connection, belonging, and status.<\/p>\n

Restaurants\u00a0+ Bars\u00a0<\/h2>\n

In the digital age, social media mentions can have a significant impact\u00a0on a restaurant\u2019s reputation and ultimately\u00a0their success. <\/p>\n

Owners have become more attuned to food and d\u00e9cor may be considered ‘instagrammable'. As a result, restaurants have become lighter and brighter.\u00a0
\nPhoto-friendly background materials\u00a0like marble, slat and whitewashed wood have become the norm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some chefs are creating dishes with the aim of going viral \u2014 rainbow-coloured, charcoal-infused,\u00a0 and other over-the-top\u00a0\u201cstunt food”.\u00a0 Others are following highly visual trends like smoothie bowls, open face sandwiches, and deconstructed fusion dishes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
