The 360 Virtual Reality of Going Digital

Sanda Iordachescu started her Toronto business, Smart Digital Market-Place during the COVID-19 lockdown. Smart Digital Market-Place follows a business-to-business model that offers 360 virtual reality photography services which provides clients with a virtual tour of the interior of establishments and venues, such as restaurants, stores, and service facilities. Iordachescu uses 360 virtual reality photography and creates virtual tours to upload on Google Business View, Google My Business, and Facebook Meta. The virtual tours are available to view on a 24/7 basis by anyone before going to visit in-person.

Iordachescu was inspired to start her business when she was unable to attend her nearby church because of COVID-19. As soon as the restrictions died down, she returned to the church and got permission from the priest to take photographs of the interior. This resulted in the creation of her first virtual tour. Shortly after, she signed up for the ShopHERE powered by Google program in order to help turn her new passion and idea into an online business. To begin her digital transformation, Iordachescu was assigned an eCommerce Coordinator to help her get started on the process.

“Many things are changing in our society, and we all need to adapt quickly. My focus is helping other businesses, and in time this will help my business, too.”

The biggest challenges that Iordachescu faced at the beginning of her digital transformation were targeting the right audience and getting in front of businesses that would be interested in her 360 virtual reality photography service. As such, her eCommerce Coordinator helped her with online advertising strategies, such as search engine optimization, email marketing, web design, and social media advertising in order to help her business establish a stronger online presence. As a result, Smart Digital Market-Place has gained more attention from interested businesses than ever before.

Iordachescu found the ShopHERE program through an online advertisement while trying to find resources that could help her business idea come to fruition. After a positive experience with ShopHERE, she highly recommends other businesses sign up for the program so that they can receive the same excellent support.

“This is valuable to businesses during these times. ShopHERE Program made it easy to start. I get more visibility into what other businesses are doing and this makes me feel part of a community that inspires me. Thanks ShopHERE for this program! Excellent experience.”
