Chains Disc Golf and Wellness used the $2,400 micro-grant from the CDAP to create a sleek, user-friendly online store that perfectly reflects its unique blend of fitness and disc golf. With the grant, they were able to improve website navigation, streamline inventory management, and integrate their fitness services with retail offerings. Thanks to the micro-grant, Chains has successfully expanded its reach and created a seamless online experience for its growing community.

Chains Disc Golf and Wellness, founded in 2022 by two passionate entrepreneurs, is an innovative space located in the heart of St. Thomas, Ontario. The facility offers a unique blend of fitness and disc golf, providing locals with a place to gear up, work out, and embrace the growing disc golf community.

The gym is a 24/7 access training facility with secured key code entry, ensuring that members can work out at any time that fits their schedule. Spanning 5,000 square feet, the gym features all-new equipment to help individuals reach their fitness goals. For disc golf enthusiasts, the space is equipped with 8 indoor disc golf baskets, making it a perfect environment for both fitness and skill-building. Whether members are looking to improve their general fitness or fine-tune their disc golf game, the facility provides all the tools needed for success.

Chains Disc Golf and Wellness also understands that everyone’s fitness journey is unique. For those who prefer a more independent approach, the gym offers the freedom to train at their own pace. However, for those seeking guidance, the facility partners with RPG Training Systems and the HIIT Crew to offer personalized training programs and high-intensity fitness classes. These partnerships ensure that all members, from beginners to seasoned athletes, can find the right support to achieve their goals.

Beyond fitness, Chains hosts a variety of local disc golf events, including the popular Wieners and Buns tournaments. These fun, community-oriented doubles events are designed for players of all skill levels, providing an opportunity to enjoy friendly competition and meet other disc golf enthusiasts.

One of the highlights of the year is the spectacular 19-hole custom course set up at the Bluffs Golf Course in Port Stanley, Ontario. This event draws players from across the region, offering a unique and scenic disc golf experience that has become a signature of the Chains community.

Chains Disc Golf and Wellness is more than just a gym or retail store—it’s a place where fitness, disc golf, and community come together. Whether visitors are looking to work out, improve their disc golf game, or simply connect with others who share similar passions, Chains offers a welcoming space for all. Those in the St. Thomas area are invited to join the growing community and experience everything Chains has to offer.

Justin and Clayton, the founders of Chains Disc Golf and Wellness, applied for the CDAP program to leverage the $2,400 microgrant in building an eCommerce platform that would enhance their digital presence and expand their reach to a broader audience. Recognizing the growing importance of a strong online presence, they understood that upgrading their website and e-commerce system would be essential to increasing their business’s impact and visibility.

The CDAP program offered a unique opportunity for Justin and Clayton to bridge the gap between their creative vision for Chains Disc Golf and Wellness and the technical tools needed for growth. With the financial support of the program, they were able to focus on finding the right digital solutions without the added strain of financial pressure. By enhancing their online presence, they aimed to connect more effectively with their audience, reach new customers, and expand their impact within the disc golf and fitness communities. The CDAP program was the ideal step toward turning their digital goals into reality, enabling Chains Disc Golf and Wellness to thrive in the increasingly digital marketplace.

Reflecting on the program experience, the founders shared:

“We are extremely grateful for the opportunity. Our store is up and running and we are getting a handle on the operation side of things.”

After completing the Canadian Digital Adoption Program, Justin and Clayton shared advice for small businesses that are interested in building a new online presence for their business: What are you waiting for! We are very grateful for the opportunity we were given. We will be watching for other opportunities that can help our business grow.”

Excited about their future, Chains Disc Golf and Wellness is eager to master online sales alongside their in-person transactions with the addition of a point-of-sale system. With the anticipated increase in sales, they plan to hire an employee in the near future and expand their team, further strengthening their business and community impact.
