Small Business Spotlight: Fresh Flow Water

Since 1999, Fresh Flow Water has been helping Toronto families access clean, safe drinking water. After launching their first online presence during COVID through Digital Main Street programs, they’ve strengthened their site, improved SEO, and grown their customer base.

For more than 26 years, Fresh Flow Water has been serving families across Toronto with one clear mission: providing clean, safe drinking water. Founded in 1999 by the parents of General Manager Rachel Salvanera, Fresh Flow Water was built on lived experience and a deep commitment to health and wellbeing. Growing up in the Philippines, Rachel’s parents experienced firsthand how limited access to safe water could affect people’s health. Seeing the impact of contaminated water on communities shaped their decision to build a business centered on prevention, education, and long-term wellness. What began as a personal commitment evolved into a company focused on helping families across Canada access high-quality drinking water while fostering a deeper understanding of its importance.

For many years, Fresh Flow Water grew through trusted relationships, in-store service, and word of mouth. But like many small businesses, the pandemic shifted how customers interacted and made purchasing decisions.

We never had an online presence until COVID happened,” Rachel shared.

In 2020, the team learned about the Digital Transformation Grant through the Wexford Heights BIA newsletter and decided to take their first step into digital.

This program definitely helped us connect with our customers and grow our customer base as well,” she said.

Since then, the business has participated in the ShopHERE powered by Google program, the Canada Digital Adoption Program, and is now working with the Digital Service Squad to further strengthen Fresh Flow Water’s online presence.

I've learned so much about website design, how to sell items online, how to make your business more visible with SEO, and so many other ways that have made our lives easier,” Rachel says. “Our business has grown so much since we established an online presence.

With guided support from the Digital Service Squad, Fresh Flow Water gained clarity and confidence in managing its Shopify site. Working alongside DSS Member Jonathan, the team addressed product setup challenges, implemented improvements, and completed a website refresh. More importantly, they built the internal knowledge needed to independently manage and maintain their digital presence moving forward.

Today, Fresh Flow Water operates with a stronger digital strategy that supports both customer connection and operational efficiency. What was once a fully offline business is now accessible online—expanding its reach while maintaining the same family values that have defined it for more than two decades.

Looking ahead, the team plans to open additional locations across the GTA and is developing new marketing campaigns to support that growth. With a solid digital foundation in place, Fresh Flow Water is well positioned to scale its impact—continuing its mission of helping families live healthier lives through access to clean water.
