Adapting Legal Services For The Digital Space
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many businesses and services all across Canada. Therefore pivoting online is one of the best ways to keep them afloat. This is no different for Daniel Abiodun, a licensed paralegal who runs a legal practice in Barrie, ON. He turned to the ShopHERE Powered By Google Program to help get his legal services online. His business D.A. Commissioning & Legal Services, is a private practice that services the general public, in addition to lawyers and paralegals.
Abiodun, who began his practice in 2016, wanted to create a company that would become a recognized leader in Canada's legal industry while making equity, diversity, and inclusion a top priority. Daniel Abidun turned to ShopHERE to help his practice gain a larger online presence. Through joining the ShopHERE Program, he had the opportunity to take advantage of marketing opportunities with Google and Facebook Ads, with his eCommerce Coordinator's help. Not to mention access to informative marketing webinar sessions to enhance future opportunities and maintain growth within his business.
Moreover, thanks to the aid of the ShopHERE Powered by Google Program and the services provided by the Coordinators, Abiodun’s business can provide clients with information on immigration services, small claims court, employment issues, human rights and many other legal matters all through their website.
Daniel believes that the ShopHERE Program is: “absolutely supportive of small businesses.” After getting his online store set up, he expressed that it opened more possibilities for exposure and help considering the challenges businesses owners are facing.
“The pandemic brought a lot of changes for business owners, and DMS has helped alleviate some of the negative impacts by giving businesses digital support.”
He also felt that the process was very educational and appreciated being walked through the back-end of his website and that he had a very talented eCommerce Coordinator. He believes that other small businesses & artists should try the ShopHERE Program to create more exposure for their platforms. After all, “online is the way to go!”

A $42.5-million investment from FedDev Ontario brought together the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas, Communitech, Invest Ottawa and the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association to expand the Digital Main Street Platform in order to support more businesses going digital as a response to the impacts of COVID-19 in Southern Ontario.
