Green Things: Unveiling the Transformative Impact of Getting Online

Green Things is a family-operated garden center and gift shop offering exceptional services for lawns and gardens. The business is proudly situated in Brockville, Ontario and their goal is to promote lawn care to decrease one’s carbon footprint.  Green Things also encourages creativity through their various workshops to encourage one to create their own distinguished container garden. By leveraging the capabilities of the ShopHERE powered by Google program, owner Donna White was thrilled to expand the reach of her business and showcase it to a broader online audience.

By embracing new strategies and staying adaptable to emerging trends, the ShopHERE program allowed Green Things to be able to navigate the digital realm with confidence. Green Things was also introduced to different tools to build and customize their Shopify website. White appreciated learning how to operate their new site so that they can make regular updates without additional assistance, allowing them to be more independent in their business’s operations. White shares,

“They made it very easy. The process was broken down into smaller steps and the [e-Commerce] Coordinators were always very helpful and available to guide us.”

In today's digital age, businesses are constantly looking for innovative ways to attract new customers and promote their products or services. One effective strategy that Green Things has adopted is utilizing emails as a powerful marketing tool. By leveraging the potential of email marketing, this environmentally friendly business has been able to reach a wide audience and create meaningful connections with potential customers.

“We have been getting many clients contacting us via email from our new website.”

The greatest advantage of being able to customize your website is the ability to make ongoing updates and modifications. Green Things was ecstatic about the fact that the ShopHERE program taught them how to make daily changes, having the ability to customize their website to their liking. It has been a game-changer for the business. With this newfound flexibility, they can easily update and refresh their content, ensuring that the site remains relevant and up-to-date. This capability allows the business to provide their visitors with the most current information, promotions, and offerings, ultimately enhancing customers’ user experience and increasing their engagement with Green Things.

“Being able to customize your website is the biggest bonus. All our other sites we weren’t able to update it daily and now we can.”

The ability to customize business-specific services, such as obtaining quotes for lawn care, landscape design, flower bed installation, and backyard design, proved to be highly beneficial. Additionally, the inclusion of an online purchase option for Green Things’ various collections was an excellent feature that greatly facilitated user navigation and made the buying process effortless. The freedom to customize the website on a daily basis has empowered Green Things to stay ahead in a dynamic digital landscape and better serve a wider audience.

“This program has been the best thing we have done for our business to increase our online presence. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

After completing the ShopHERE program, Green Things now has a website they can be proud of, giving them the opportunity to expand their online community. For other small business owners who may be interested in signing up for the ShopHERE program, White states,

“Just do it. Sign up with ShopHERE and get your online presence heard.”
