Making Life Sweet With Freshly Baked Cookies
In the past five years, Rose Ficco has been reinventing herself after a job loss that took place the day after her 50th birthday. She spent over 25 years working for various not-for-profit organizations, and was able to find the push to do what she always wanted to do – start her own business. She told her husband that she never wanted to be let go again, and wanted to take a year to get started on a new passion.
In 2014, she started Rose to the Rescue, where she provides virtual administrative support to small businesses. Within a year, she built a clientele, but not enough to fill in a good day's work. Not being one who can sit still, Rose created another business, Rose's Fiscotti. Making biscotti (or Fiscotti) was only meant to be a hobby, but word spread and she was creating gift packages for a variety of occasions: weddings, holidays, birthdays, Valentine's Day, and gifts for her Rose to the Rescue clients.
The popularity of her business and cookies led to Rose joining the ShopHERE Powered By Google Program, so she could distribute and sell the cookies online, and reach a wider audience. Building an online shop, she says, was a risk. She had fears about an overwhelming demand for her cookies outweighing the supply. On the other hand, she was still interested in accumulating more customers.
With the help of the ShopHERE program and her eCommerce Coordinator Priya, they were able to build a brand new Shopify site to help keep her orders and customers organized. “Priya guided me through the process with ease because of her wealth of information.”
You can also find the Fiscotti Monthly Club, for those who want to treat themselves (or someone they love) to a monthly cookie care package. Each month, you can let Rose know which Fiscotti cookies you would like, or you can simply leave it to her to create a box. They always include the newest flavor in addition to the signature favorites. Who wouldn’t want a batch of Fiscotti to look forward to every month?
“It's the lessons you learn when you experience a loss that makes you appreciate the sweetness of what life has to offer and it's why I want to make life sweet through my Fiscotti cookies”
