A Unique Collection You Can Customize
Twisted Metal Prototyping is an independent manufacturing start-up that offers high-quality products which includes custom pieces, merchandise, and prototypes. Nicholas’ passion in creating and designing began when he was a little boy; he enjoyed being creative; always had a keen interest in constructing and assembling pieces. This later showed in high school as he excelled in Art classes, which made his decision to become a machinist pretty easy. Nicholas was presented the opportunity to receive help and transition online when he received an email about the ShopHERE Powered by Google Program from a Barrie small business centre.
The company began as a CNC machining consulting, a 3D designing service, and has since expanded to be much more. Nicholas wanted to give others the chance to design and personalize their own products, from hexagon signs to quality handmade products. Building a website was important for him, “firstly having a website available is more professional; and secondly, allows people to access your business online from anywhere.” Nicholas wanted to be able to create products with the end goal of building a facility that is passionate about design, prototype, mass producing, and adapting to new technology, as it is continuously advancing.
“With 3D printing entering the industrial sector and so few businesses have yet to consider how this technology can benefit them, I've decided to start my own manufacturing company.”
Through the ShopHERE Powered by Google Program, Nicholas highlighted the features he required for an online store on Shopify, which were then implemented by his knowledgeable ShopHERE Coordinator. “Manjinder was a great help in developing my website specific to my needs. He had a lot of great insights, which made the transition painless – it is exactly what I expected and wanted.” Nicholas comments. In addition to the ShopHERE Coordinator’s help, Shopify offers easy to follow video tutorials, that makes building the site quick and easy.
“This allowed me to focus on the other aspects of starting a business, like product development, so not spending too much time on building the site was essential for me. But the struggle now is to get views and online traffic as much as possible.”
Through his new website, customers can now order and customize products, from medals to 3D printed signs. After launching his site during the COVID-19 pandemic, the one piece of advice for other businesses looking to transition online, is to consider having a delivery and contactless pickup option.
“This way you’re showing that you are taking COVID-19 protocols, and people would feel safe when shopping online”
