From Delicious to Digital: Jerk & BBQ Haven’s Digital Transformation
Beverly Griffiths, owner of Jamaican restaurant Jerk & BBQ Haven in Mississauga, Ontario, utilized support from the Canadian Digital Adoption Program to establish an online sales channel and connect with their customers online.
Beverly Griffiths is the owner behind Jerk & BBQ Haven, a Jamaican restaurant providing healthy, delicious, Jamaican food in Mississauga, Ontario. Their dedication to crafting great value, healthy, Jamaican food distinguishes them from their competition. Traditional foods such as Jerk Chicken and Ox Tail are some of the delicacies that can be enjoyed at Jerk & BBQ Haven.
Recognizing the importance of having a robust digital presence, Beverly felt it was time to take a step toward strengthening the restaurant’s e-commerce strategy, so she turned to the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) for support. In today’s digitally advanced age, having a strong online presence is a key contributor to the success of a business, however navigating the complexities of the digital world can be intimidating, and businesses may face challenges in taking that initial step to adopt digital strategies. That's where CDAP can help. CDAP is designed to assist and empower small businesses like Jerk & BBQ Haven in taking advantage of e-commerce opportunities and technologies for their business operations. In the program, small businesses connect with a dedicated E-Commerce Advisor who can support them with e-commerce solutions, digital training, and support in accessing the program's $2,400 microgrant.
With the support of their dedicated e-commerce advisor Beverly was able to identify the digital enhancements their business would benefit from. The priority, they recognized, was creating an online ordering system on their existing website so customers could order for pick up and delivery directly from them. So, Beverly worked with her grant advisor and was able to access the microgrant to help support building the new online sales channel.
Reflecting on the program experience, Beverly shared:
“The CDAP program was very helpful for us in advancing our digital presence and the support that we received from the advisor was phenomenal.”
Thanks to the CDAP program, Beverly was able to take the next step in the digital world and share their savoury Jamaican food with a wider audience and make it easier for their customers to order online. Beverly shared advice for small businesses that are interested in the program:
“Go for it. It will be worth the time and effort”.
