SimpleSKU Culinary, led by Dustin Skeoch in Toronto, got a boost by using the CDAP microgrant to spice up their online presence.

Canadian-owned and operated SimpleSKU Culinary in Toronto, stands as a beacon of modernity, offering high-quality scientific kitchen solutions.  Driven by a mission to transform and innovate kitchen setups, business owner Dustin Skeoch provides state-of-the-art kitchen equipment, including food vacuums, sealers, and other tools, catering to the needs of both commercial and home kitchens.

Looking to enhance their online presence and find more professional chefs and home cooks interested in their products, Dustin applied for the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) and the $2,400 microgrant.

CDAP empowers small businesses with dedicated 1-1 e-commerce support and a $2,400 microgrant to adopt digital technologies and tools. With the added digital knowledge and microgrant boost, businesses leave the program ready to grow online.

Dustin was paired with a dedicated E-Commerce Advisor who learned about Dustin's online goals and provided guidance on digital strategies, and e-commerce tools that could support the business. The E-Commerce Advisor also supported Dustin in applying for the $2,400 microgrant. Dustin rated the experience with the E-Commerce Advisor a 5/5 and said the following;

“(The E-Commerce Advisor) made sure I understood the guidelines and helped me with my (microgrant) proposal – (they were) very helpful”.

After successfully receiving the microgrant, Dustin took the knowledge he gained from the E-Commerce advisor and the funds to improve the existing e-commerce site. This included implementing a chat feature, improving website navigation, and implementing SEO to attract more people from Google to the SimpleSKU website.

Looking ahead Dustin is excited to see the new digital knowledge and enhanced website grow SimpleSKU Culinary online. Dustin shares the following,

“This year we wanted to enhance our web presence & find more customers online. This was a nice help to make sure we did all that correctly. (I am hoping) to keep growing by 20%-30% online, and these tools make me feel like that's attainable.”

SimpleSKU’s success story shows the impact CDAP has by empowering businesses to thrive in the digital landscape. As Dustin aptly puts it when asked about what they would share with other business owners, “Do it”. Dustin rated their time with the CDAP program 10/10 and explained,

“(CDAP) was a great experience and the funds will help with my business growth.”

It's safe to say that CDAP served as the secret ingredient, encouraging SimpleSKU Culinary to achieve their e-commerce goals with confidence and success.
