Digital Main Street and Mastercard are providing unique and exciting opportunities for students to work with industry leaders in cybersecurity!

The Small Business Cyber and Intelligence Fellowships, now in its second year, are a collaboration between Digital Main Street and Mastercard, offering students and recent graduates the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside industry leaders in cybersecurity.

As a fellow, you will have the opportunity to work with Mastercard’s global, award-winning teams, who are at the forefront of shaping the payments landscape and revolutionizing the way merchants and issuers combat fraud. During the program, fellows will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and tools.

Fellows will receive a competitive salary, as well as opportunities for professional development and networking. Fellows will also gain mentorship and guidance from Mastercard’s experts, who will provide the support needed to succeed in your role.

Upon completion of the program, you will have gained a deep understanding of the latest technologies and best practices used to protect small businesses against cyber threats.

Fellowship Opportunities

Internship Dates: May 6th 2024 – August 23rd 2024

 

Location: This position will be a hybrid mix of remote/virtual; 3 days a week working in the Vancouver office ( 475 Howe St. 20th Floor. Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 2B3, CA) and 2 days working from home. We reserve the right to change the work location at any time from the hybrid model to: fully remote/virtual, fully in person in office, or a different hybrid mix, as dependent on business needs. 

 

Responsibilities:

As an intern on the Cyber & Intelligence team, you will be involved in the following: 

  • Working on designs for complex features in the payment fraud space 
  • Managing a design library and its important components 
  • Close collaboration with Design, Product Management, and Dev teams 
  • Leveraging the user-centered design process for an enterprise-level product  
  • Learn about the payment fraud detection space and how AI is being leveraged to solve real-world problems  
  • Hands-on experience on a fast-paced product team 
  • Build further expertise with Figma 

 

Qualifications: 

We are currently seeking qualified applicants who can demonstrate the following:  

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Design related field 
  • Familiarity with the user-centered design process 
  • Experience designing web-based applications 
  • Strong research, investigative and problem-solving skills 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • Experience with Figma or Sketch

  • Research and better understand the current cybersecurity market and challenges
  • Research and profile internal products and map against market challenges
  • Develop personas, market and competitive analysis reports, data visualisations, and infographics showcasing our collective impact across our programs in Vancouver
  • Creation of internal and external communication guides

 

Qualifications: 

We are currently seeking qualified applicants that can demonstrate the following:  

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree  
  • Study in the areas of New Media, User Experience and Design, Data Analysis and Visualization  
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to derive and translate the current market landscape 
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Communication and Design skills 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handle multiple tasks, consistently meet established deadlines, and deliver exceptional results 
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

Digital Main Street is a program developed in partnership by the City of Toronto and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA). Digital Main Street supports the growth of main street businesses by making the adoption of digital tools and technologies easy. The program is built around an online learning platform, structured training programs and the Digital Service Squad, a team of street-level team members who help main street businesses grow their operations through technology.
