SMBs excited about technology, but need help taking advantage, Startup Canada finds

Governmental, technology and industrial sectors can provide crucial support to small businesses

According to a recent Startup Canada report, 83 percent of Canadian small business owners believe technology developments will positively affect their businesses in the next twenty years. Further, 77 percent said technology is already increasing their productivity.

However, “The Effects of Advanced Digital Technologies on Canadian SBOs (small business owners),” also revealed that 79 percent worry about the “security risks, maintenance costs, and technological failures” associated with adopting new technologies.

Startup Canada CEO and co-founder Victoria Lennox says the key to balancing innovation against potential tech pitfalls is ensuring “industrial, government, and technology sectors” support small businesses as they adopt new technologies.
