About the Business

Natalie Lobo is the creator and founder behind Studio NL Ceramics, a small ceramic studio just north of Edmonton, Alberta. She has combined her love for her animals with her creative ability to craft unique custom bowls for her and her friend’s pets. Natalie also creates one-of-a-kind mugs with some sassy things to say in a series she calls “Let The Mug Say It”. In her words, “[these are] mugs that say what you don’t want to necessarily say out loud”.  So whether it’s a bowl for your furry family member(s) or a statement mug to add to your desk, these beautiful designs will surely catch your eye!

Key Business Challenge

Natalie brought her business to the DSS to get assistance establishing an online presence. She came armed with a foundation of knowledge on creating a website and social media channels but wanted additional support to ensure she was on the right track.

Historically, selling pottery is usually done at craft shows or through store front. But there is a huge online market for unique items…DSS squad opened the door for future sales for me, all while staying at home!

How did the Digital Service Squad help?

To help Natalie grow her online presence, the DSS at Community Futures Yellowhead East supported her through 1on1 meetings with one of our squad members. Our team helped Natalie set up and optimize her website, Google my business page, and learn content creation tools like Canva. After covering some of the basics, our team helped create a posting strategy to help differentiate the types of posts that are best for each social media channel.

The program is well thought out and staffed by caring and knowledgeable people. Although I had a basic knowledge of website building and management, the staff helped supplement my knowledge with practical and timely suggestions.. When I tried to build the website on my own, it was easy to get lost in all the noise and “overbuild” the website. DSS helped by producing a clean and simple website that is easy to maintain and easy for customers to navigate.
