Small Business Spotlight: Happy Cramps
Monica Singh, founder of Happy Cramps, created her business from her own lived experience of painful periods.
After years of relying on pills that were slow, harsh on her stomach, and sometimes ineffective, she knew there had to be a better way. Happy Cramps was born: a natural, fast-acting patch designed to provide relief without side effects. More than a product, the brand reflects Monica’s vision of combining science, wellness, and empathy to make periods feel less overwhelming and more supported.
Monica is currently working with Digital Service Squad member Jasleen, who has helped her fix website issues, improve her SEO with Google Keyword Planner, set up her Google Business Profile and more. She describes the experience as “so helpful,” giving her access to tools, mentorship, and guidance that would have been difficult to navigate alone. The program has helped her overcome the challenge of establishing a strong online presence. Monica said, “I realized that digital isn’t an add-on, it’s the foundation. It’s how we connect with customers in a relatable, authentic way.”
Monica also took advantage of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas “Love Local” initiative, which allowed her to pop up at the airport and showcase Happy Cramps while connecting travelers and community members to the best Toronto has to offer.
With these tools and opportunities, Happy Cramps has grown its reach and started important conversations about menstrual health. Looking ahead, Monica plans to scale the business through stronger e-commerce systems, expand to new markets, and developing educational, community-driven digital content. Her digital strategy continues to play a central role, helping her not just sell a product, but create a space where customers feel seen and supported.
Monica shared, “I’m so grateful for programs like Digital Main Street that give founders like me the chance to turn ideas into something tangible and impactful.”
