How a Love for Crafting and Graphic Design turned into a Business

Angela Doll is the creator behind Angela Doll Graphic Design & Custom Creations, based in Wingham, Ontario. She was looking to set up an online store for her business but found it difficult and confusing to do on her own. Through the ShopHERE powered by Google program, she was able to overcome this barrier and create exactly what she envisioned her eCommerce store to be.

Angela has been a stay-at-home mom for the past ten years, but now that her girls are in school, she's found more time to work on her business, dedicating the past three years to building it from the ground up. She was able to take her love and talents for graphic design and create beautiful products for everyone.

It all started when Angela attended Fanshawe College and received a degree in Graphic Design. Following graduation, she moved to a small town to start her family and was able to land some graphic design jobs here and there but decided she wanted to start her own business.  She wanted to use her design skills to make custom décor and clothing for people. To pursue this goal, she opened her own shop and combined her two loves, graphic design and crafting. Now, she loves taking her customers' visions and making them come to life.

“I can make pretty much anything so bring me your ideas and I can make your dreams a reality! I have my degree in Graphic Design and I can create advertising for your business including Business Cards and Flyers and much more.”

In order to further her business, Angela wanted to set up a website where she could sell her custom designs online. She started by researching which platform might best fit her business’ needs but was overwhelmed with all of the options available. She was interested in building her own website for a while but realized the process had changed so much since she graduated. Joining the ShopHERE powered by Google program connected her with an eCommerce Coordinator who helped her review her options. Having an expert with experience do the initial setup for her made the process much easier.

“This program is exactly what I needed to take some of the stress and anxiety off my plate.”

Through the ShopHERE powered by Google program, Angela was able to gain confidence in creating and navigating a website. Her Coordinator was very helpful and worked with Angela to achieve her goal,

“Lynda was very accommodating and helped me get exactly what I wanted”

Additionally through the program, Angela learned strategies to advertise her products to reach more customers. She was also able to take advantage of the special promotions offered through the program to ensure her new eCommerce website was a good fit!

“It's a great way to test it out to see if the website is working for me!”
