Make Your Everyday Coffee Mug One-Of-A-Kind
Kelly Davison is the owner and artist behind KD Designs Tumblers and More based out of Verona, Ontario. You might wonder what a Tumbler artist is. Do you know those plain stainless-steel tumblers? Kelly makes them stand out by customizing them with unique designs. While Tumblers were her first passion, she has expanded to create coasters, coffee mugs, resin art, and even personalizes clothing and bags.
Kelly’s dive into custom tumbler designs started during the pandemic lockdowns to relieve stress. Over time, her design work has become an integral part of her identity and she decided to build a business around this passion. She loves expressing herself and working with customers to create exactly what they want. Her slogan is,
“if you can imagine it, I can create it!”
To expand her business online, Kelly signed up for the ShopHERE powered by Google program to build an online store. She was paired with an eCommerce Coordinator who assisted in setting up her website and helped her learn to use the tools and functionality to manage the website on her own.
As part of the program, Kelly got a free .ca domain, which made it easier for people to remember the website name when she gives it out to interested potential customers.
It was challenging at first because Kelly sells one-of-a-kind pieces and doesn’t have a lot of stock to sell. Often, she works with people interested in her work to customize a product unique for them. Working with her eCommerce Coordinator, they made a website that reflected how she does business.
“The ShopHERE program provided me with all the help I needed to create, design, and manage my website all at no cost!”
Kelly was happy with the way her eCommerce Coordinator was patient, knowledgeable, and ensured all of her questions were answered before she hit publish to launch her website.
In addition to the website, Kelly was also provided with marketing training. She learned how to set up a Facebook page and connect it to her website, which expanded her reach to potential customers onto another platform.
“I see the traffic to my website and it gets better each day. I now have other ways of attracting people to view my products now that I have a website.”
Since Kelly started creating her one-of-a-kind designs, she dreamed of becoming a business owner. She is still working on getting her name out there, but she is hopeful her online store will allow people to find her art not only in her local community but around the world too.
“Using this program empowered me to manage the business side of my company while still allowing me the time to create my products. I couldn’t be happier with this program!”
